Known risks

• Physical dependence with daily use (1–2 weeks)
• Withdrawal symptoms on cessation
• Drug interactions with CNS depressants, SSRIs, and many prescription medications
• Elevated risks from 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) products vs leaf kratom
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding contraindications including Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
• Hepatic stress with chronic heavy use, especially combined with alcohol or acetaminophen
